how was your morning commute? I made it to work (about 15 miles) doing 26.7 mpg. That even included mashing the go-pedal a couple times to get around some slow moving trucks. The last thing I want in the morning is to get stuck behind a massive dump truck with a bulldozer on a trailer getting onto my favorite highway on-ramp. I also saw a Tesla S and a Raptor. I think the would make for a nice 2-car garage.

Stock or tuned? My WRX is stage 2 and I can't come close to that even on the highway.

my brother-in-law just got a new corolla and has been getting around 38. I got to drive it. Made sure I had a coffee first.

That's the power of beige. Honestly, the mpg I'm getting from my little beast are optimistic, in that I have to be 'good' behind the wheel to make it in the high 30's. But I'm much happier going for smiles per gallon.

i'm thrilled with 26 mpg. i guess thats what getting 12 mpg will do for you. I found (for that car) the CVT to be pretty cool. I dont understand why when you put it in sport mode they would do simulated shift points. It takes away from the novelty of the new technology.

12? Oof. I've got a tiny engine, so it can only be so thirsty thankfully.

I suppose the shift points are there to make you feel like you're still going through gears, as per the norm with cars; more of a placebo effect. If everything goes to plan, I'll never own a car with a CVT so I'm not worried.

that's surprising. I would think with a 6th gear you would be able to keep the rpm's lower.

How do you reset avg mpg? (I have a Subaru as well)

i had a 04 Sport Trac and drove like a race car driver. The gas pedal was more of an on/off switch . I dunno if that had anything to do with the engine eating itself. I've heard thats why they add the shift points. The new tech scared eople or some crap. I think its dumb. Eco mode removes the shift points and it was pretty cool (

rest the trip meter, obviously it resets your trip miles but it also does the average mpg.

Might have done. Then again, I often drive my Corsa at 10/10 and it takes it like a champ. Can't wait to take it in for it's first service so I can watch the techs at Vauxhall collectively facepalm.

Yeah that's probably it. People will become accustomed soon enough, and forget about faux shifting.

18 miles to work - 31.3 indicated MPG this morning in my GTI. I've seen as high as 33 or so. But it generally stays around 27-29.

GTI are FWD right? I'm guessing the AWD system takes a couple mpg's from me. 23/24 is probably more common for me.

Yeah, I just bought a 2008 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport, upgrading from my first car which was a 2001 4runner. Still figuring out how to do things with cars.
